Managing spatial data is key to
the success of any GIS implementation. We are hugely experienced in spatial data
management and provide the following services.
Data hosting
We can provide you with an outsourced GIS data storage and data delivery service
using industry leading hosting partners.
Data can be served to key stakeholders using ESRI’s ArcGIS
Server technology, and consumed
using a variety of GIS client viewers, such as web-based maps, rich internet
application (RIA) viewers, and desktop client applications such as ArcGIS
Desktop.
Our GIS services ensure timely access to high quality spatial data to all
stakeholders, while allowing you to reduce your data management burden by
leveraging the 'cloud computing' paradigm.
Data management health checks
Our consultants can provide you with a healthcheck to help ensure that your data
is in good shape (i.e. up to date, correct and complete), well integrated with
the rest of your business data, and able to suppport your stated business
objectives.
Data standards
Spatial data standards can be important within the E&P industry, aiming aim data
consolidation, conversion and integration in order to achieve the maximum levels
of data interoperability within organisations.
We can assist you in applying standards within your spatial data infrastructure,
e.g.:
- Data model standards
- Data content standards
- Data exchange standards
- Coordinate Reference System standards
- Metadata standards.
Data architecture design
We can design a geodatabase to meet your business requirements, from developing
standard data nomenclature to designing for a data model to hold the data.
Data is often stored in the geodatabase with cryptic nomenclature designed for
data management staff. To simplify the system we would deliver the data through
layer files or services, ensuring that cartographic symbology
standards, attribute aliases and friendly layer names have been applied.
Data loading and QC
We are experienced in loading and managing both raster and vector data to a
variety of datastores, ranging from flatfile to relational database formats. We
can design and build geoprocessing tasks to automate elements of the loading
process to help streamline the service and make it more efficient. In addition
we have established processes for checking the quality and completeness of both
spatial data and metadata.
Data distribution
With ArcGIS Server we can also create GIS services from your
data to allow you to generate content for your GIS tools, both desktop and web
based.
Data reformatting
Data often needs to be exported to or imported from a wide variety of formats.
For digital data we can work with a number of third-party reformatting tools or
design and build our own. For paper data we can scan and digitise the data into
an appropriate spatial form. We have worked with a number of companies to
transform non-GIS datasets to a spatial format.
